Bargain of the Week

Now is the time to stock those pantries! If you have a VG's grocery store near you (in Michigan check locations here) ...you are in luck this week.  They are having a buy 10 items get $5 off instantly at checkout promotion.

The featured items are: Pet Evaporated Milk $1.00
Folgers Coffee 10oz. size for $2.69
Hungry Jack Mashed potatoes 3 for $5
Hungry Jack pancake mix $1.99
Pillsbury Flour $1.79
Dunkin Donuts coffee for $7.99
Jiff Peanut butter for $1.99
Eagle Sweetened Condensed milk $2.29

These are a pretty good deal in and of themselves, but when you add in VG's double coupon policy it is irresistible. Did I forget to mention that VG's doubles coupons up to and including $1.00?

Okay so the best deal that I could put together was this:

2 Folgers Coffee                       $5.38
4 Hungry Jack potatoes            $6.68
2 Hungry Jack pancakes           $3.98
2 Jiff Peanut Butter                   $3.98
2 Smuckers Jam                        $6.00   ($3 each and not part of the deal, but I needed them for the Jiff Q)
   Subtotal                               $26.02

- Vg's promotion                    -$5.00
- 2 Folgers coupons                -$2.00
       $1 off 1 (11/7)
- Doubled Folgers                   -$2.00
2 Hungry Jack Potatoes         -$2.00
       $1 off 2 (11/7)
- Doubled Hungry Jack         -$2.00
-2 Hungry Jack pancakes      -$1.10
      $.55 off 1
- Doubled Hungry Jack         -$1.10
- 2 Jiff & Smuckers                -$2.00
      $1 off wyb both  (11/7)
-Doubled Jiff/Smuckers         -$2.00

Total                                     $6.82

Your deal maybe even better if you buy a different kind of Smucker's Jam...my family prefers the raspberry (w/ seeds)...I think the grape was cheaper. All in all not a bad deal to stock up on. You can only do the promotion once per transaction and I would watch to make sure that the your $1.00 coupons double...some of mine did not at first, but the cashiers were very helpful and corrected things quickly. Happy Shopping

Halloween decor

If you are looking for last minute Halloween decorations for your house and have access to old pallets (that's what we used) or other old wood, why not board up your house?

My enabler husband made frames for our windows and then hammered on the  old pallet wood in a random, dishelved pattern. The frames make them easy to put up and take down year after year. I wish that I took pictures of him building them to make a tutorial.

On halloween night, I put up red cellophane in the windows and turn on the lights. The effect is a little creepy and a lot of fun. We got the original inspiration from a neighboring town that decorates big for Halloween Tilson Street
